How to get new Ration Card in Jammu and Kashmir

You can get below ration cards in J&K:

APL Cards
In J&K, two type of cards are issued under APL category. First is saffron that is issued to families who lies above APL index and lives in both urban and rural areas. Second card is Honorary Ration Cards which is issued to families who do not choose to go with the ration card facilities.

BPL Ration Cards
It is issued in either green or yellow color.

Antyodaya Anna Yojna (AAY) Ration Card
Issues to families having no stable source of income and typically living in slums.

Please visit your nearby Food and Supply office, you will get the original application form there. Look for the details that are asked in form and attach the required supported documents.

Documents required for ration card in J&K

Depending upon the purpose, you will need below documents while applying for new ration card in state:
• Family photograph
• Residence proof
• Identity proof
• Birth certificate (if you want to add name in ration card)
• Death certificate if you want to remove name from ration card
• Surrender certificate if you want to change address
• Marriage certificate if you want to transfer name of bride/groom from one ration card to another

Ration Card Status in Jammu and Kashmir

You will get the estimated card delivery date in the acknowledgment slip that you will get after submitting your application form in the office. You are advised to visit the office on or after mentioned date to check the rashan card status.

Duplicate ration card in Jammu & Kashmir

Duplicate Ration Card can be issued in below conditions:
• Original ration card is lost
• Damaged ration card
• Illegible

In order to get duplicate ration card issued, you need to submit application in simple paper explaining the reason why you need duplicate card and supported documents (mainly an affidavit stating the reason). You can visit your nearby ration card center to obtain original duplicate ration card form that you need to submit to authorities.

Ration Card Fee in Jammu and Kashmir varies according to card type and it is Rs. 50 for APL and Rs. 25 for BPL families.
